Nicolas Van der Noot
Ph.D. Electromechanical Engineer
Staff Engineer (Software R&D)
In January 2018, I started a position as R&D Software Engineer at Sony Depthsensing Solutions. In 2023, I have been promoted to staff engineer. I lead a team of engineers in the development of cutting-edge AI software for industrial applications (computer vision and machine learning). This position allows me to actively take part in the development of our tools and products, while steering the project with other managers to meet the needs of our customers.
In 2017, I obtained a Ph.D. degree, after conducting a joint Ph.D. thesis in two universities: Université catholique de Louvain (UCL, Belgium) and Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland).
The purpose of my Ph.D. thesis was to develop controllers for humanoid robots to achieve human-like locomotion. More precisely, I designed bio-inspired controllers capable of generating fast, human-like and energetically efficient gaits.
